The Livingston County Treasurer is advising property owners of the availability of pre-paying your real estate taxes. The ability to pre-pay up to 70% of the prior year tax amount has been available for several years. Due to the changes in Federal Income Tax regulations we have noticed an increase in requests for this service. In response to those inquiries we have developed an application form we want property owners to complete and bring to our office with their payment or mail with a check. The form will become a part of our permanent records and insure that payments are applied correctly. Please contact our office at (815) 844-2306 if there are any questions.
Barbara R. Sear, Livingston County Treasurer, is reminding property owners that the final day to pay real estate or mobile home taxes is Monday, November 20, 2017. Payments may be made at the County Treasurer’s Office in the Historic Courthouse or by mail, but the payment MUST reach the Treasurer’s Office before 4:30 PM on Monday, November 20, 2017. Payment MUST be in the form of a cashier’s check, money order or cash. Personal checks are not accepted and will be returned.
Payments using a debit or credit card can also be made on the Treasurer’s page of the County’s website (www.livingstoncountyil.gov), or by clicking on the below button, until Monday, November 6, 2017. The credit card companies charge a convenience fee of 2.25%.
Delinquent notices were mailed on Thursday, October 19, 2017, and show the amount currently due.
Our annual tax sale of delinquent taxes will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
